"Beastella" Inst.6
Estella entered the barn just as Melix was on his way up the first of three ladders he needed to climb. Her eyes needed a second to adjust to the barn interiors dimmer light level, coming in from the bright morning sun. She called out a hello to Melix, just as she witnessed him ascending the ladder, quickly. It appeared as if his feet were not in contact with the rugged old ladders rungs,Estella noticed, rubbing her eyes in disbelief. She swore she heard audible evidence of his foot contacting the ladder rung as she spoke, how very odd it seemed. "Melix, i swear it looked like you were gliding up the ladder, seriously", espoused Estella. Melix rolled his eyes, trying to quickly come up with a story. "I, um, umm, I told you ive been working out, see, Girrrrl." Melix proudly flexed a moderately swollen bicep. "Me Ahhhhnold", Melix said while flexing his body like a body builder, and grunting. "I use my arms to hoist my sexy self up the ladder, sometimes my feet help" Melix laughed, hating to lie to his friend. He realllllly wished he could let Estella know her eyes had not deceived her. Melix had many secrets that he intended to share with Estella, when the time was right. For the time being, he needed to be more discreet, apparantly. He was almost to the top of three long ladders, ultimately elevating him to "Otto, the Old Owl." Otto lived in the rafters of the barn, three storys worth of a ladders climb. The poor owls body had become quite arthritic, in his advancing years. Estellas parents had decided to let Otto remain in the eaves,as he couldnt fly well anymore, nor climb the ascending zig-zag of his hand built walkway. Justin had considered the trek up to Otto to be good excercise. Something felt odd about Melix's answer, Estella thought. Perhaps it was the residual effects of their 'wacky weed' adventure of last night, she pondered. Music, yeahhh an old pop classic was burning its tune into Estellas consciousness. 'Sweeeeet', she remembered her mom had left the cd of it in the barns multi disc changer. As the sounds of 'Tiny Tims' "Tiptoe through the Tulips" coursed into the air, Estella Noticed Melix freeze, mid climb. "MsMelixia",Estella called out in a kooky voice, "Whats up, Dont u like quirky music?" This time, Melix didnt know how he was going to respond. If only she knew the significance of that singer, That song, if only he could share the reason for his wistful bliss. But not yet.......... Not quite.
